The Past Changes the Present

War isn’t the only thing that changed our past. Our lives changed due to many things. For example, Martin Luther King JR.’s death or the Ice Age both changed our world in ways we many never really see. Some of the most obvious changes with these events are the extinction of dinosaurs, the reaction of many black followers, and the new age beginning. If I could go back in time, I would change slavery, Hitler being born, and Abe Lincoln’s death because our world would be a much more complete and peaceful place.
Slavery changed and took over the minds of many people. Some people agreed that blacks should be treated like animals and used for work and some didn’t. If you took away slavery, the outlook on many people would have changed and our world would have been more peaceful because we all would have been treated equally. For example, African Americans would have been treated like normal people by having the same rights we did. Also, the humiliation and suffering of long days in the fields and being whipped wouldn’t have happened. If I could back in time, I would change slavery so that all blacks and other people would have the same responsibilities and rights as whites.
Millions of people died because of one man, Adolf Hitler. This German leader killed people just because of their religion or beliefs. If Hitler was never born, the lives of about 3,000,000 Jews and other people would have been spared. Though you may not know it, Hitler may have affected your life too. He may have killed your great-great-uncle or any other ancestor, which may have closed off a generation of your family. Also, almost all schools have a Social Studies class and at one point, we will all learn about him. If I could go back in time, I would stop Hitler from being born because our world would have been much safer and less corrupt.
Abraham Lincoln was a very courageous man in many ways. He spoke out against slavery, he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, but most of all, he was our President. When Abe Lincoln was assassinated, many people were saddened. If I could change his death, I would. If he was alive, he could have abolished more bad things to make our world a more peaceful place. For example, he could have stopped wars and maybe even helped make huge leaps into world peace. Overall, Abraham Lincoln was a very important authority figure.
Slavery, Hitler, and Lincoln all affected us in some way. Some were positive and some weren’t, but all had a big affect on our world today. If you could go back in time, would you change the past or do you like our world today?
