Slavery

Slavery

What if everyday when you wake up you have to go work in the fields barefoot or clean the master’s house and be punished for one little mistake you made? Slaves never got treated nicely. If they did something wrong in the master’s eye they would get whipped. Slaves would get separated from their families. They would be traded for money. Some slaves left their families and escaped, some got caught. I would change slavery because every person should have been treated fairly, slaves should have been paid, and there would be no owning anyone.
Every person should have been treated fairly in the time of slavery. It shouldn’t have mattered what “color” people were. It shouldn’t have mattered because everyone needed to be treated fairly. Slaves never got to learn how to read and write. Every person should have had an education. They may have worked better in the fields. Everyone needs to have an education because they would need to know about the world and how to do more things. They didn’t have an education because the whites thought that they didn’t need one. Slaves didn’t even have rights. They couldn’t do what whites could do. I would want everyone to have equal rights. It shouldn’t have mattered because everybody should have been treated fairly.
All slaves should have been paid to work in the fields or clean the master’s house. They all worked very hard. If they got paid they could pay for their own food and support their family. Slaves should have gotten the choice to work and get paid or not work at all. That might have been a better way of ending slavery.
Slaves should not have been “owned”. The slaves were people not pets. When they were being “owned” they never felt good about themselves. It also made them feel like anything they did was not good enough. They would also want to run away because the master was not treating them fairly. They also ran away because they wanted to be free and have a good life. Slaves were people too, so they should have been treated the same as whites.
Slavery should not have happened and those things were ways I would have tried to stop it. Every person should have been treated fairly, regardless of his or her color, they should have been paid and no one could be “owned”.
