“Live Every Day Like It’s Your Last”
“Live every day like it’s your last.” This is pretty much the equivalent of saying, ‘don’t waste your life’, so instead of watching TV or reading all of the time, go out and do something fun and exciting. If you knew you only had one day left to live, would you waste that day with the same day – to – day routine? Probably not, but unluckily for us, we don’t’ know when we’ll die so we must take precautions and live every day like it could be our last. If we don’t we’ll feel unaccomplished, bored, and have some, if not many, regrets.
By living our life to the fullest, we not only feel accomplished, but that small tinge of excitement you never would have gained if you had wasted your day. If you want to spend your life always absorbed by boredom, continue always watching TV. Yet, if you wish to do something with your life and feel the joy of having new experiences that TV can only show you through pictures, then go outside and do something to push yourself beyond your limitations. If you don’t do this then it will seem that you would’ve been better off having never been born. Remember though, you are the only person to blame because you have bestowed this feeling upon yourself. Boredom can be easily lifted; you just have to go do something.
Now, imagine for a moment that you’re watching TV. Not that hard to do, right? But instead of waiting for something ‘awesome’ to happen, that you couldn’t possibly predict, you watch with boredom as the show hits its climax. You’ve already seen this episode. To be truthful, you’ve seen it quite a lot of times. Well, now imagine that you go outside to check your mail only to find a creamy white envelope with your name stamped onto it in large, jet black letters. There is no evidence of who’s mailed this to you but that doesn’t bother you at the moment. Instead of pondering on who gave it to you, you rip it open and quickly look over the letter. Pretty soon you find yourself reading it over again… And then again. The message that it holds takes awhile to sink in, but to sum it up in a short sentence the letter said that you’ll be gone tomorrow. Yeah, that’s right. Gone. Dead. It sends you into a panic. No, you’re not scared of dying, you’re worried because you’ve wasted your life with TV and now you have only one day left to feel ‘accomplished’ with something if not anything. And guess what? This all could have been avoided by living your each day of your life to the fullest.
Regret. Not exactly that great of a word, for it often brings the strong feeling of misery, laced in a strong package that’s almost impossible to open. Think about the last thing you remember regretting: Not studying for that big math test? Not buying something? Well, these are only small things. Lets say you got a big, paid vacation to the mountains for a nice skiing trip. You even get a cabin up there to use for when you’re not doing anything outside, too. Now lets say that two of your best friends got the same trip. They wanted you to come, but you decide that you have some things at home that must be taken care of. So you spend the week doing various tasks that don’t take too long to complete. When your friends get back they tell you about everything you missed, and what a good time they had. They met a few new people and had a great time skiing. Also, they managed to throw in something about how you just should have been there. After hearing all of this, you begin to regret not going. This feeling could be with someone else right now, instead of you, if you had just chosen to jump on every chance to do something cool that you get.
Regret, unacomplishment, and boredom are all miserable feelings to have. Make sure to live each day like it’s your last or you’ll hate living. One reason why people commit suicide is because they have one or all of these feelings. If you don’t want to end up joining their ranks, you better go do something with your life before it’s too late.
